This is so scary. I just heard the Gov. on the news say that we need it to rain. Right. In the mean time, I hope he has a plan B.

Arlyn, I agree about the plan B. I just read though that he is appealing to the Pentagon! If so, that disturbs me greatly.
What we saw in New Orleans was a huge departure from legal procedure here. The US armed forces are only authorized by law to act against external threats. We have the National Guard, run by the states, to protect against natural disasters and internal matters. In New Orleans US troops and mercenaries were deployed.
The Bush regime has mobilized huge numbers of National Guard troops to occupy Iraq, which is inappropriate to begin with and results in too few of them for the jobs they are legally empowered to do.
A second deployment of US troops and mercenaries within the US would disturb me greatly. I worry that US citizens will begin to be conditioned to think this is okay and wake up one day with the troops, either federal or mercenaries, rounding up citizens on trumped up charges.
