Freedom Village: Living on the Frontlines

Rows and rows of rice stalks stand drenched in water, surrounded by voluptuous emerald trees. Turn 180 degrees to the North, and the landscape is barren -- a vast, desiccated plain dotted with empty blue and white buildings, its trees cut down long ago for heating fuel.
