Two Purple Hearts and Five Surgeries Later, An Injured Iraq War Vet's Family Faces Another Battle at Home
Rose Anne,
Great article! Five years too long, we are still loosing soldiers and changing the lives of many as a result of an unnecessary war! The worst victims are the soldiers who don't return home and their families forced to move on without their patriotic loved one. My heart goes out to soldiers like Charles who go to war to "protect" our freedom only to return home and virtually abandoned by the paternalistic system that sent them to war in the first place. It is a travesty that our veterans are not provided medical treatment and benefits in a timely manner that they need to survive and move on with their lives without further bureaucractic melodrama. If I were a veteran my thought would be, "You sent me to war. Now pay for my medical treatments, disability income, and a waiver on paying taxes for the rest of my life." Again, great article!
