Kudos to The WIP for publishing this important article. Many researchers, health writers, and doctors (from Robert Mendelsohn to Mayer Eisenstein) demonstrate that America would be healthier with half as much medicine. The cost of hysterectomy is staggering, but the harm done to women, their families, and their communities is incalculable. I encourage everyone to visit the the HERS Foundation website to empower yourself with the information women are denied by doctors. We need a law requiring that HERS' "Female Anatomy" video is provided to every woman who's told she needs pelvic surgery.
