I appreciate this poignant, powerful story of survival in the face of abuse. Sometimes I think we underestimate the importance of the role men play in eliminating violence within relationships. We need to educate our sons, brothers, and male friends to show strength through their willingness to empathize with others, not their ability to impose their will upon another.
