this is an very lopsided article,
Kid, there are many factors when you talk of education. Most Indian families are stuck on the degrees crap. we are literate, you included but not educated. this very same rahul ki mummy will take a loan to educate her son to be a MBA then crib about jobs, this is a cycle. If our education is really so bad how come we export the labor force to US of A? we do not need foreign universities, we need to redo our priorities. we need to identify our needs first, the man power that is required to address the education is to optimize individual skills to address the skill. this would not only take care of our unemployment it would also take care of many things. We are so hooked on this great foreign degree, I have come across foreign MBA's who ring up their colleagues to figure out how handle basic issues.
Ask any average urban rahul ke mummy "My son goes to a English school where his teachers are MSc. MEd and they teach first standard, never mind that the MSc.MEd does not have the basic skill to teach the 1ststandard. The skill to teach 1st standard is with the DEd teacher.

YOu must have come cross enough women to realize that oppressed indian woman is a partial truth.
Matriachal society of south is now being polluted with male domination of the northern cult. Infact in the south particularly in Kerala children were known by the mother's family.
the irratic westernization has destroyed the balance factor. we are also begining to adopt the rootless west culture where everything needs a forum to be addressed.

by the way in our clinics we have seen that victims of marital rape like the victims of domestic violence do not talk of it, they also have a sense of guilt.

dear Lesley,
well written article. Maybe you are told to focus on indian women, but marital rape is an issue world wide. it is a variant of domestic violence. in more educated men it manifests more subtly. But it is not an INDIA - ONLY situation. infact marital pervesion are maximum in the white community of US of A

essentially this entire issue is a personal one. it is for the partners to ensure his partners rights. Also so much ado on sexual preferences is a post 1991 syndrome. this is what our heritage has to say about article 377. comments and queires are welcome

shreyasi, sorry to disagree it is not the brain-drain that is happening but the labor strain for those are returning or not flying the coup are the mediocere, blue collared labor force.

interesting, and well presented but have you really looked at the fundamental issue.
Essentially what all of us are doing today is maniputative doctoring, we are not preventive. out of curiosity I would like to give options, I'll give mine after that. hopefully more people will join us.
